Bikestation Long Beach

In 2002, WestStart sponsored the development of the first facility of its kind in the U.S., Bikestation Long Beach. Bikestation Long Beach offers attended indoor bicycle parking (free during regular business hours), professional repair services, a bike shop and more.

It is strategically located on the First Street Transit Mall in Long Beach, CA, a nexus for light rail, buses, pedestrians, and a local shuttle that services neighborhoods and key attractions. Nearby, more than 30 miles of dedicated shoreline and river bicycle paths, as well as Class II paths, connect to other parts of the city.

Bikestation Seattle

WestStart partnered with Bikestation to open its Seattle facility in 2003. The collaboration will continue through 2008. Bikestation Seattle is a one-stop transportation center that offers the public a variety of mobility choices and amenities to encourage travel trips that improve air quality, reduce traffic and parking congestion, and enhance the community’s livability. Bikestation Seattle is open daily with 24/7 bike-parking access for members.

MyGo Pasadena

The MyGo Pasadena is a partnership between the City of Pasadena, the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and WestStart-CALSTART. MyGo Pasadena seeks to bridge the “first mile” gap by demonstratinMyGo Pasadenag and supporting the use of advanced electric 2-wheel vehicles as practical and reliable alternatives to the private automobile for short trips to Metro Gold Line transit stations within the City of Pasadena, California. Initially, MyGo Pasadena will provide up to 100 current Park-and-Ride users with an electric vehicle rebate that is paid on a monthly basis over a 12-month period or, alternatively, a subsidized vehicle lease. In return, participants in the program will be required to leave their car at home and commute to their neighborhood transit station using the EV instead of using the Park-and-Ride lot. The benefits to the Pasadena community, and potentially to the Los Angeles region, include reduced vehicle miles traveled, reduced vehicle emissions, reduced congestion, improved air quality, and more effective and less costly transit parking infrastructure.
