Get Ready to Fold-n-Go, LA County!

 
CALSTART recently co-authored LA Metro’s Folding Bike Implementation Plan for Los Angeles County. The plan provides strategies for cities and transit agencies in Los Angeles to provide price discounts for the purchase of collapsible bikes to use in conjunction with transit. A major goal of the program is to motivate commuters to switch their transit connection vehicle from the car to the bicycle. The program leverages the success, knowledge and experience that CALSTART acquired in working with LA Metro on a similar bicycle/transit project called MyGo-Pasadena.

 

Implementation of these plans would provide numerous benefits both for Metro and the public. Metro would be able to accommodate more people, since folding bikes utilize less space and can be taken on board. The public would benefit from a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and those participating in the program would enjoy health benefits and save money.
