The Employment Training Panel (ETP), in partnership with the California Energy Commission, has over $6M in funding available for design, engineering and manufacturing companies working to support the development and deployment of non-petroleum-based vehicle fuels, PHEV and EV vehicles, components and infrastructure in California.  These funds are intended to upgrade the job skills of incumbent and newly hired workers in California.

More on the Employment Training Panel (ETP)
The Employment Training Panel (ETP) is a business and labor supported state agency that funds employer-customized, job-specific training delivered to full-time employees using a pay-for-performance contract structure.

ETP funded training topics, plans and specific schedules are driven by the employer’s self-defined training needs.
  • Funded training may be delivered using any combination of internal or external training provider, including training –the-trainer models, lead staff instructors, third party vendors, public/private universities, or community colleges.
  • Training delivery method includes: traditional classroom, simulated laboratory production, video-conference formats and on a limited basis, on-the-job training.
Reimbursement amounts average from $1,800 to $3,600 per trainee, with the actual amount of reimbursement based upon the number of training hours delivered.  Currently all standard ETP contracts are capped at $500,000 per fiscal year.  ETP Staff provides comprehensive technical assistance in the development and monitoring of approved training contracts and there is no cost for these services.
